Mission: Getting Ready (Character Development)OUTPOST
Location: Kalkarindji

Duncan barely waited until Savage, Jynx, Nordic and Jason were seated before he took a sip of his Irish Coffee. He watched the suited men, working with their large, long forks, snagging the last of the body parts that floated around Kalkarindji.

"You've by now heard about the latest missing ships. SF, civilian, it really doesn't matter who they belong too, where they came from, or whom was onboard. They were wrapped in garbage, coated in muck and mire then released in amongst a fair bit of rattle. What wasn't released was, that we believe it was the portal that Yackandrah and the other ships disappeared through. We've had people tracking all missing ships, and we've found a few new elements. Have we ran them passed Maddison? No. And I'm not going to at this stage. What we want to do, is alter the Halo, use it to gather some more information. Then if we can use Halo as bait, with Maddison and a chosen group and see if we can get it whoever they are, to take the bait. I am fully aware of what this may mean. Which is why I want the Halo bulked up and out, and I want your heaviest hitter's onboard, ready to play ball like you've never played before. I want Collins and her groupies there as well. I intend to do whatever I can to weigh this in the Halo's favour. And I need everyone to keep their mouths closed. Nothing goes to Maddison."

"Over the last six weeks, there have been twenty-two vessels that have disappeared. Ranging from SF, Vulcan, Klingon, Museum pieces, Cardassian, several from history and there's a good chance that several Borg cubes were even spat out or chewed up and dragged in. We're doing our best to keep most of it out of the media."

"Do you have any idea what she's going to do, and she finds out that you've been working on this and didn't tell her?" Savage asked.

"I think it's time for me to use my leave." Jynx stated.

"Don't even think about it. You are going. Apart from Maddison, you commanded a holo transporter for years."

"Halo is not fitttttttttt. You fitted the Halo with holo's." Jynx shook his head. "Shit! What else...." Jynx looked at Savage. "I do not want to know."

"And what exactly..." Savage took a deep breath. "Shiiiiiiiiiiiit. You have no idea what happened there. Do you?"
"No."
"And you have no idea what they had to do to get back."
"No."
"And you have no idea why whoever they are, they're doing this, do you?"
"No."
"Duncan, if Black doesn't kill you. I will." Savage stated.
"Do you want them on this side?" Duncan turned and looked at them.

"Duncan. You got the other survivor's stories. None of them could tell you what they looked like. The only person who wouldn't talk was Black." Savage pointed out. "You do not know what happened. You do not know what the bridge crew saw or experienced. You were told by the survivor's that they kept the largest crew members, the males onboard and took the smaller females to fight in the arena. You don't know if each person got to talk to the previous one. The only female that returned was Black. She and she alone knows what happened. And so far she hasn't revealed what happened. Not to anyone you set her up with. Not with anyone you pushed, poked, pinched or threatened. You even put an idea to the marines, and yanked every damn chain you could pull. The only thing that stopped you from getting kicked out. Was because your bloody idea worked."

"It did, very nicely and it's still active today." Duncan was very pleased at what he did.

"Maddison Black went through hell, Duncan. She had an advantage. She was deaf. She is deaf. Are you going to force everyone to become deaf? Or are you going to clone her and fill the Halo with multiple versions of her?"

"No." Duncan eyed Savage. "I'm doing everything I can, to float the odds in Halo's favour. They're picking us off one by one and we don't know why. We watched six sites, we were lucky in one site. A volunteer crew went through. They were gone one year, and the vessel was sent back through the portal in nano size pieces. The pieces were covered in blood. Every volunteer was returned in nano size pieces."

"Get off Kalk, Duncan." Savage stated. "I'll call you."

"Right." Duncan nodded. "If I had any other option I'd take it."

Savage hurled the nearest item at the furthest wall.
